- The Essential Skills Wales qualification suite will replace the current Key Skills and Basic Skills qualifications from Autumn 2010.
- A £15million scheme to raise the skills of over 16,000 workers across six counties in south east Wales has been announced by Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills Lesley Griffiths.
- The new PHORCAST website has information on the different areas of public health, the variety of jobs available (e.g. health promotion specialist, health trainer, environmental health officer, public health manager), starting a career in public health, competence frameworks, the skills and qualifications required for public health job roles, personal career stories, advice on accessing education and training, key public health websites and much more.
